Introductory Krav Maga Classes

Our introductory Krav Maga class is designed to teach you the fundamental concepts and fighting principles upon which Krav Maga is based, in a hands-on, practical manner. In this 60-minute class you will learn how to block and deal with both unarmed and armed attacks and threats. The class is dynamic in nature, and although somewhat slower paced than our regular classes, it is physical in nature. At the end of it, you will have a set of heuristics that can guide your responses when navigating violent situations and some solutions to common attacks and threats, and if you want to continue training at our club/school, you will have the necessary skills and tools to hit the ground running in our regular classes. To register for the next class please use the button below (the cost of the class is $25 and you will be taken to a secure payment gateway after completing the registration form).

Why Train Krav Maga?

The Krav Maga syllabus taught at Krav Maga Yashir Boston, follows those that are taught in Israel. Our program is a pure Krav Maga, one that doesn’t “borrow” or “combine” techniques from other systems. Whilst a trained, full-time athlete may manage to apply a certain technique in an MMA contest such as the UFC, that doesn’t automatically mean that a person training a couple of times a week would be able to replicate that in a real-life encounter. The original Krav Maga program taught to IDF recruits was 21-hours i.e., a program that didn’t require those participating to be highly skilled athletes who already possessed skills and natural abilities. Krav Maga is designed for everyone rather than just the athletically gifted.

As far as self-defense/fighting systems go, Krav Maga delivers the greatest bang for the buck, when it comes to the amount of training time required to develop fighting abilities. By reusing common movements against armed and unarmed attacks, when standing or on the ground etc., it is possible to learn a lot of solutions to different attacks in a relatively short period of time. Whilst many people believe that Krav Maga is simply a collection of techniques taken from other martial arts and self-defense systems this is not the case. Rather, it is a system/approach to fighting that is based on how we naturally act/react when attacked/assaulted i.e., a system that works with our natural responses rather than forcing us to act in a prescribed manner.

In our 60-minute beginner Krav Maga class, you will learn how ideas and concepts are translated into physical techniques and solutions, and how the “body” instinctively responds to a variety of attacks. You will be introduced to the teaching/learning methodology of the system (Krav Maga isn’t simply about the “techniques” but also about the way in which it is taught and learnt). At the end of it, you should have a better idea of what real-world violence looks like and what is needed in order to survive it. Upcoming classes can be found on the registration form below.
